“Hello! I am Todd Regan and I am the owner and trainer at Coach Wags!
I have loved dogs for as long as I can remember. Growing up, I was fascinated by different breeds, working dogs, and all the jobs dogs were capable of doing. That love became personal when my family adopted Shania from a shelter when I was in fifth grade. She had been returned three times and was at risk of being euthanized. Shania became my best friend. Shania became my best friend, my comfort the one I could always count on.
I could never understand how a dog who meant so much to me had been given up on so many times. That experience stayed with me. It made me want to help other dogs who were waiting for someone to see who they really were. I later volunteered at the humane society, spending time with shelter dogs and trying to make their days a little less stressful while they waited for homes of their own.
As an adult, my partner and I started Earthbound Hounds, a dog-walking and pet-sitting business. That gave me the chance to work with many different dogs, people, and households. Those experiences made me want to dig deeper. I became fascinated by canine behavior, body language, and what makes dogs tick. I wanted to understand why one dog might struggle with something another dog handles easily, what dogs need to feel safe, and how their natural instincts fit into life inside a family home.
I have always been especially drawn to rescue dogs, misunderstood dogs, and breeds people are quick to judge. I have always rooted for the underdog. To me, dog training is about much more than teaching a dog to sit, stay, or follow commands.
As I professional dog trainer, I strive to understand dogs on a deeper level; what they need physically, mentally, and emotionally. As well as how their instincts, experiences, training, enrichment, cooperative care, and better daily routines can improve their lives. I also understand that there is a person on the other end of the leash. Living with a dog can bring a lot of happiness, but it can also bring frustration, worry, embarrassment, and moments when someone feels completely stuck. I take what the dog needs and what the family is going through into account so we can find a realistic way forward together.
My passions are what grew into Coach Wags. I see Coach Wags as a bridge between the world of dogs and the world of people. When communication breaks down or the relationship becomes strained, I help both sides understand each other again. I voice and advocate for the dog while also coaching people, building them up, and giving them the knowledge and tools they need.
The “Coach” represents the guidance, support, and encouragement I give families. “Wags” represents the trust, happiness, and understanding I hope to build between dogs and their people. My goal is not to create a perfect dog but to foster a strong bond you can truly enjoy together and enhance both of your lives.. When things get hard, I want to be the guide who helps families move forward. When a dog is misunderstood, I want to help give that dog a voice.”
